This is a how-to guide for learning SGML, ETD-ML, and how to run the ETD-ML formatting system.

1.2 Reference Manual for ETD-ML

This is the official documentation for the document type definition for ETD-ML. Use this reference manual to make using ETD-ML easy.

Lists all the elements allowed in the ETD-ML, as well as telling where each element can be used. Gives handy hints and quick examples. Bookmark this card!


2. Running the ETD-ML System

2.1 Perl script that converts ETD-ML to HTML, by Neill Kipp (etd2html, v0.9.0)

The ETD-ML formatting script requires Perl and SP (below).

2.2 SGML Parser, by James Clark (sp, v1.1.1)

The SP parser processes all the SGML encoding for ETD-ML.

2.3 ETD-ML Document Type Definition, v0.9.6

You will need the Document Type Definition (DTD) in a form that is readable by SP.

2.4 Script language interpreter Perl v5.003

If you do not already have it, you will need Perl v5.003.
